A Levite. Him and his descendants were inhabitants of Jerusalem after the exile. He was "of the children of Hodaviah": See Ezr 2:40 and see Kadmiel. See Ezr 3:9; Neh 7:43; Neh 9:4-5. In Neh 8:7 He helped the people to understand the "book of the law of Moses" when Ezra read it to the people in Jerusalem. In Neh 10:9 He sealed the covenant to keep God's Laws in the times of Nehemiah. In Neh 12:8: "went up with Zerubbabel ..., and Jeshua" to Jerusalem after the exile. |
